England (FA) Confirms Bidding For 2018 World Cup
Following the World Cup Rotation Policy abandoned By FIFA, The Football Association, aka FA, has confirmed it will bid to host the 2018 FIFA World Cup. This positive move from England has been strongly backed by the British government. FA Chairman, Geoff Thompson, said the “tremendous support” from Prime Minister Gordon Brown and encouraging signals from FIFA had been key factors in the decision.
FA Chairman Lord Triesman will chair England 2018 supported by two Deputy Chairmen; Lord Mawhinney and David Gill - David Gill is Chief Executive of European Champions Manchester United and Lord Mawhinney is Chairman of the Football League. Read more here..
