Will South Africa Overcome The Astronomical Sums To Host World Cup 2010 As Expected?

South Africa, the first ever African nation to host a World Cup tournament, is facing a big dilemma. They have already started the constructions of stadiums for the 2010 World Cup, but the mixed effect of the global financial crisis coupled with their slow-going local growth is of high concern.

Themba Maseko, cabinet spokesman, said:
- “(The) construction programme for the stadia was on track to meet all FIFA deadlines even though cost escalation still remains a challenge”
